Ingenious Quality offers consultancy in a variety of High
Technology areas and specialises in the Semiconductor,
Electronics and Software industries although we have
supported many other engineering and manufacturing
businesses.
Ingenious Quality has also accepted an invitation to join
the BSi Associate
Consultant Programme. As BSi cannot referee their
own work (offer consultancy and then offer registration)
they have partnered up with a selection of consultants who
have met certain criteria and in whom they trust to ensure
that potential clients requests are handled effectively.
We also work regularly with Alcumus
ISOQAR who are also a UKAS accredited certification
body and we are therefore also registered with the ISOQAR
Associate Network programme (IAN).
As a company that believes in Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) and ensuring that our obligations to
the environment are fulfilled.
The Ingenious Quality founder, Dr. Trevor Gainey is an
experienced Quality and Reliability executive
complemented by a background in Engineering and R&D
management. He has extensive knowledge of the
semiconductor, hybrid microelectronics, MEMS and circuit
board assembly sectors.
He has worked for major companies in the UK and the USA
manufacturing hybrid microcircuits, micro machined
sensors and integrated circuits supplying the
Telecommunications, Consumer Electronics, Automotive and
Mil/Aerospace application environments.
Trevor's last post was as Vice President of Quality and
Reliability in a UK based fabless semiconductor company
in the consumer power conversion market (a former
Ingenious Quality client). In this role he established
the quality and environmental management systems leading
to full ISO9001 and ISO14001 certifications with zero
non-conformities. He also supervised the qualification
of their first major product offerings with explicit
qualification stress testing. The excellent product
quality is shown by a gross customer returns rate of
less than 1ppm and a valid customer returns rate of less
than 0.1ppm during his tenure with the company.
Prior to founding Ingenious Quality he was Customer
Quality and Reliability Director for a US semiconductor
Corporation responsible for over US $1.5 Billion worth of
I.C. shipments to customers in Europe, North America and
Pan Asia including many well known customers in the
Storage, Consumer and Telecommunications markets.
Prior to this he was Engineering Manager responsible
for the design and development of ICs and hybrid
microcircuits for the Telecommunications, Automotive,
Industrial and Aerospace industries.
Trevor has a BSc and a PhD in Physics, both from the University
of Southampton department of Physics and Astronomy.
He holds several U.S., European and UK Patents related to
microelectronic assembly and packaging and has written and
presented several papers at national and international
conferences.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered
Management Institute and a Chartered Physicist

Trevor can trace his family history back to the late
1500's in the Wiltshire area of the West of England
but the Gainey name and it's variations are believed to
have their origins around the time of the Norman Conquest
of 1066 and be a derivative of the Anglo/Norman name
"Engaigne" meaning ingenuity - hence Ingenious Quality!
